With a nostalgic smell that brings childhood’s candies to mind and diverse creative collaborations, Melissa, Brazilian fashion brand transcends the function of shoe to transmit an artistic message.
The more expressive association with art and British culture is the insertion of two design models in the book ‘Fifty Shoes That Changed the World’, edited by the Design Museum London (institutional release), highlighting the partnership with Vivienne Westwood and Zaha Hadid.

However, the main initiative of the brand was to create Galeria Melissa as an emotional retailing venue linked with brand values and culture. In the opinion of Muti Randolph, the architect responsible for Galeria Melissa São Paulo, Galeria Melissa London and Galeria Melissa New York, his main challenge and motivation is to enable immersive experiences with sensory appeal. For Randolph, ‘art, research, and invention should be part of our everyday lives, and not limited to museums, galleries, and labs.’

Inspired by the flexibility of plastic which enable different artistic interpretations, Galeria Melissa also plays with this nature of transformation by presenting itself as a gallery for art. In the opinion of artist Sebastian Errazuriz,‘art allows us to add emotions and feelings to product design in such a way that it can become something much stronger, and can allow people to really connect with it.’

Galeria Melissa is a cultural space to communicate the optimistic brand’s point of view, bringing a “splash of color”, awaking emotions and share of ideas.
